An urban hiking trail

Walking in Amman, the beautiful capital of Jordan, is next to impossible. The pavements are largely impassible due to obstructions or their poor quality. As a result, if you are a pedestrian, you normally find yourself walking in the middle of the road.

“Walk Amman” was a project developed as part of my MA in Graphic Design. The aim was to restore many of these pavements to create an urban hiking trail throughout the city and encourage people to explore Amman by foot.

This initiative would connect with local artists to create paving stones to find along the way. I created my own prototype paving stone as part of this project, made from discarded tiles found in the streets, using the logo which I created using traditional calligraphic techniques.
